Escuela Montalbán turns 40: an anniversary to celebrate together!

The year 2026 will be very special for Escuela Montalbán, as we will be celebrating no less than 40 years of teaching Spanish in Granada. Four decades dedicated to teaching the Spanish language and culture, accompanying thousands of students from all over the world in their learning and personal growth experience.

Since our founding in 1986, Escuela Montalbán has established itself as a leader in teaching Spanish as a foreign language in Andalusia, thanks to an educational project based on academic quality, approachability, and commitment to our students.

A year full of commemorative activities

To celebrate this important anniversary, starting in January 2026, we will begin a series of special activities and events that will take place throughout the year and culminate in November 2026 with a grand finale.

Among the initiatives we are preparing are:

• Special campaigns on social media, where we will share memories, stories, photographs, and testimonials from students and teachers who have been part of the school's history.
• Scholarships and special promotions, as a token of our gratitude to our international community.
• Raffles and participatory activities, designed to involve both former and current students.
• And, as a grand finale, a big anniversary party in November 2026 to celebrate these 40 years of history in Granada together.

During the time we have spent together learning Spanish, we have grown not only in the language but also through our experiences and friendships. We want to deeply thank everyone who has supported us on this journey.

Thank you to the teachers for your patience, dedication, and for sharing your knowledge with us in such a warm and special way. You’ve shown us the beauty of the Spanish language and culture, making every lesson a unique experience.

Thanks also to my classmates for their support, good spirits, and the laughter we’ve shared. Learning together has made this process much more fun and enriching.

Although the school is closing for the Christmas holidays, we know this is only a temporary break. We will return in January with even more eagerness to continue learning and enjoying all that is yet to come in this wonderful journey.

A tapa is a type of appetizer which is served when you order a drink. Serving tapas to customers is a typical Spanish tradition preserved through the whole of Spain. In some cities, such as Granada, the tapas are free. They can vary from just a few peanuts or a small dish of olives, to almost a mini meal in itself. One of the most enjoyable pleasures of the Spanish culture, is to go out with your friends for tapas. You usually only stay in each tapas bar for one or two drinks, so that you can go to a series of different bars in one evening. In some tapas bars you can choose your tapa, whereas in others, there is a set list of tapas that you get according to the type which is being served.

Would you like to finish your Spanish course in Granada with an official certificate?
Our Spanish language school in Granada is as a member of FEDELE an examination centre for the D.E.L.E. exams. The internationally recognised D.E.L.E. certificates (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) are issued by the Spanish Ministry of Education. The D.E.L.E. exams are organised by FEDELE Spain (National Federation of Spanish Language Schools) through their regional Federations and the Instituto Cervantes.

D.E.L.E. counseling
Our D.E.L.E. exams are taking place on 5 different levels (A2/B1/B2/C1/C2) at our school. An evaluation of the own language level is often difficult. For this reason, we offer an approximately 1,5 hour personal counseling interview with a final level classification. Before you register for the exam, make an appointment with us!
