For many years, the festival has put the name of Granada on the map, and this beautiful city’s long-term relationship with jazz has brought it back every autumn, with excited jazz enthusiasts arriving from far and wide to enjoy its historic heritage, its excellent local cuisine, and extraordinary concerts with artists representing the past, present and future of the best Spanish and international jazz. One of the most beautiful and iconic theatres in Andalusia, the Teatro Isabel la Católica, always hosts the concerts of the main programme. But the Festival extends far beyond the theatre, with over 70 concerts in bars and clubs in and around the city. Granada’s autumns are enriched by jazz every November, with the event attracting artists and audiences from around the world.
Over the years, Jazz en la Costa has developed into the most important international summer festival in Andalusia, defined by avant-garde characteristics since its inception. All Jazz sounds and styles are accepted in this contest celebrated in the middle of the Costa Tropical, in an exceptional location in Almuñecar: The Parque El Majuelo, situated near the ancient Phoenician ruins, below the Arabic castle, like a splendid open-air jazz club providing a great view of the Mediterranean Sea.
