The Argentinian poet and composer Enrique Santos Discepolo referred to
tango as «un pensamiento triste que hasta se puede bailar». The passion for tango emerged in late 18th century as a result of changing cultural and social influences in
Buenos Aires and
Montevideo. Today tango is one of the most popular types of dances in the world, and while a century ago, tango was a simple and local dance practised by the poorer Latin American population, it is nowadays a complex and fiery dance. This programme allows participants to dance
tango in Granada, one of the most fascinating cities in the world. We offer you the chance to experience the practical skills of tango whilst learning the
Spanish language. We provide the opportunity to complement your
Spanish Course with tango dance classes in collaboration with recognized and
qualified dance teachers from Uruguay. There are classes at all levels, starting with beginners to more advanced levels.
Those who want to visit the
International Granada Tango Festival should come in March. The Festival is one of the leading Music and Dance Festivals in the cultural programme of Granada. In the year of its inception (1988) it indeed became a pioneer in the European
«Tango Festival» oganisations. Taking place in March and stretching over five or more nights, the Festival offers spectacular shows, live music, dance classes and enables you to watch or take part in tango dancing, photographic exhibitions, poetry readings, cultural debates and much more.
The festival will take place in 2024 from March 12 to 17.
