VUELTA CICLISTA A ESPAÑA

The grand finale of the 2026 Vuelta Ciclista a España takes place today, Sunday, September 13, in Granada. This is a historic milestone for the competition, as it is the first time the Spanish tour does not finish in Madrid (due to the Formula 1 Grand Prix taking place in the capital).

The red jersey already has a virtual champion: the Balearic rider Enric Mas (Movistar Team), who sealed the race during yesterday's queen stage at Collado del Alguacil, bringing glory back to Spain after 12 years. Primoz Roglic and Felix Gall will join him on the final podium.

The final stage features an afternoon schedule to make the most of the celebrations in the city center:

  • 4:20 PM: Neutralized start from the Carrefour in Granada (Armilla).
  • 7:05 PM – 7:15 PM: Expected arrival of the cyclists at the finish line.
  • 7:20 PM: Trophy ceremony and crowning of the overall winner.

The final stage covers a distance of 112 kilometers. After an initial loop through towns in the metropolitan area (such as Armilla, Churriana, La Zubia, Gójar, and Otura), the peloton will enter the urban circuit of Granada city.

The biggest highlight is the three climbs up to the Alhambra. The urban circuit will pass through the Paseo del Salón (the finish straight) and head up the cobblestones of Cuesta Escoriaza, Cuesta del Caidero, and Antequeruela Baja with gradients reaching up to 10%, emulating the spectacular Montmartre circuit seen at the Paris Olympic Games.

If you want to watch the final stage live, you have several free and paid options:

  • Free-to-air (Spain): RTVE will broadcast the race starting at 4:20 PM on La 2, later moving to La 1, Teledeporte, and the free app RTVE Play.
  • Paid platforms: You can watch the full uninterrupted broadcast on Eurosport 1 as well as on the Max (HBO Max) and DAZN streaming platforms.

SECONDARY SCHOOL GROUPS IN GRANADA

Every year, during the busy months of September and October, our school welcomes school groups from across Europe, particularly from Poland, Switzerland, Germany, the UK and Denmark.

Students usually stay with us for approximately one week, enjoying a complete programme that combines Spanish language classes, accommodation with local host families, and a wide range of cultural and leisure activities.

Our Spanish courses are adapted to the students’ level and age, giving them the opportunity to improve their communication skills while learning in a friendly and international environment. But the learning experience does not stop when classes finish.

Staying with a Spanish host family is an important part of the programme. It allows students to experience everyday life in Spain, discover local customs and cuisine, and, most importantly, practise Spanish in real-life situations in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The programme is complemented by cultural visits, excursions and group activities, giving students the chance to discover the local area and Spanish culture while spending time together outside the classroom.

For students, it is much more than a school trip. It is an opportunity to improve their Spanish, gain confidence communicating in another language, meet new people and experience Spanish culture from the inside. For teachers and schools, we provide a well-organised educational programme that brings together language learning, cultural discovery and a memorable experience.

Spanish + local families + culture + new friendships = an unforgettable week in Spain.

GRANADA ES FLAMENCO 365

From September 12 to 19, 2026, Granada will once again become a major stage for one of Andalusia’s most deeply rooted art forms: flamenco. The Granada es Flamenco 365 festival will bring a week of performances and cultural activities to some of the city’s most iconic and historic locations.

Carmen houses, viewpoints, squares and heritage venues will come alive with music, dance and tradition, creating a unique experience where Granada’s cultural heritage meets the passion of flamenco. This year’s programme features some of the most important names in contemporary flamenco, including Estrella Morente, Manuel Liñán and Eva Yerbabuena, representing different generations and styles within the genre.

For those studying and living in Granada, a festival like this is also a wonderful opportunity to discover local culture and experience the city from a different perspective. At Escuela Montalbán, where students from all over the world come to learn Spanish and discover Granada, events such as Granada es Flamenco 365 offer a unique chance to experience one of Andalusia’s most important cultural traditions first-hand.

Throughout the week, Granada will once again show why flamenco is such an essential part of its cultural identity. The programme will culminate in a closing concert, inviting both locals and visitors to enjoy flamenco in settings that make every performance a truly special experience.

Granada es Flamenco 365 is not only an opportunity to discover flamenco, but also a way to discover Granada itself: its historic spaces, its heritage, its atmosphere and its culture. It is an unmissable event for anyone who wants to experience the city and connect with a tradition that continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its roots.

At Escuela Montalbán, we encourage our students to make the most of this special week: explore the city, visit its beautiful venues and experience Granada through its music, dance and art.
