This week we will offer a guided visit to the cemetery of St. Joseph. This activity will give you a different approach to life and history of Granada.
Constructed urgently in 1805 next to the Nasrid Alixares Palace due to the yellow fever epidemic that gripped the city, is the forerunner of the cemetery known as San José (St. Joseph) today. It has a logical location, in the privileged complex of monuments and landscape of the Alhambra, construced outside the city on the orders of king Charles III.

Successive projects and extensions by important architects and sculptors have definitively fashioned the courtyards we will find on our stroll through the city’s memory.

We will be accompanied along our route, where there is a  lot more to discover than two centuries of history, by memories of  those who lie herre, the artwork and singularity of their pantheons and the coppice surrounding them.

... Granada. Das heißt in diesem Fall: Touri sein pur! Jack und ich besichtigen den Stolz, das Symbol und den Tourifänger (zu Recht) Granadas, die Burg Alhambra. Dort werde ich abends auch eine Flamencovorstellung mit der Sprachschule anschaun.

Ich möchte zu Alhambra nun nichts mehr sagen. Schaut euch die Bilder an, lest bei Wikipedia nach. Man kann es einfach nicht beschreiben.

Stattdessen versuche ich euch von „Duende“, DER Flamencovorstellung mit den besten Tänzern, Sängern und Musikanten ganz Spaniens, ein Bild zu vermitteln ....

For those thinking of learning Spanish and hiking in Andalusia the area around Granada often ranks highly as a choice of venues. One of the main attractions of this beautiful area is the wide variety of landscapes that are available within a very short distance. The Sierra Nevada National Park offer wonderful views around almost every corner. Here you can select from a wide range of walking challenges from very easy to extremely difficult. The walking routes have been here for centuries.  All year round our school complements the Spanish lessons in the morning with guided walks during two afternoons sper week.

Our first Spanish Teacher Training course in 2014 is scheduled in April. The 1 or 2 weeks course will start on the 14.04.2014:

"Curso práctico de 1 y 2 semanas - perfeccionamiento y reciclaje para profesores NO-NATIVOS de español como lengua extranjera - Niveles C1/C2”

The aim of this programme is to offer non-native Spanish teachers the opportunity to update and perfect their knowledge of the Spanish language and to exchange experiences regarding methodological and pedagogical issues.

We understand that the current system of Comenius-Grundtvig grants will be replaced in May 2014 by the new European Programme Erasmus+, whereby teachers will be able to apply for funding to attend teacher training programmes in Spain and other European countries.

In due course information should be available from your National Agency.
 
As arrangements for obtaining European Union funding from May 2014 onwards are not at all clear, we strongly recommend taking advantage of the old Comenius-Grundtvig system before it ends.
