A visit to Granada city center is always a part of our Spanish language programmes.
One of the most interesting places are:
Carrera del Darro is the name given to the entire left bank of the River Darro. This offers a picturesque romantic cobblestoned street to stroll around preferably during sunset or while you can look at the starry night sky. On a sunny day, the walk by the river can be pleasant with many shops, cafes, and street musicians fringing the banks.
The Paseo de Los Tristes is also known as the Promenade of the Sad Ones. You can find people going crazy walking around trying to locate this street on the map because it is one of those places in the city which is neither on the street map nor on the GPS. Contrary to its name, this street is full of life with colors, churches, museums, palaces, and aromas which makes it a perfect place to sit down and consume the idyll beauty of Granada. Plaza Nueva can be found adjacently situated with the Carrera del Darro which is the oldest square in Granada.
The Moorish marketplace, Alcaiceria is situated off the main streets of Granada. Brimming with stores, cafes, churches and tourists and locals, there's no leaving our city without visiting the Alcaiceria. With faint resemblance to a Morrocan mini-souk, indulge in a shopping lamps, exotic natural tea, trinkets and other souvenirs as a memory of this gorgeous town. Even if you don't intend to buy anything, just a walk through this vibrant souq takes you back to the Arabian fables you've read in your childhood.

The famous Yoga Estudio has reopened on the 10.01.2022.
We are pleased to inform you that Yoga Estudio has reopend its doors on January 10, 2022. The studio will be managed by Esther Baubo and the wonderful team of people who make up Baubo Yoga.
For Esther Baubo it is a great challenge to take the reins of this emblematic place as well as to somehow "take the witness" of the incredible legacy that Eladia Martinez left. The team will work with great enthusiasm.
It is important to note that Baubo Yoga is not an exclusive center for Iyengar Yoga.
They offer traditional Hatha Yoga classes and also are going to offer a variety of styles and contemporary fusions so that students can choose the one that best suits their demands and particularities.
Also in 2022 our school will continue offering Spanish and Yoga workshops in collaboration with different yoga estudios in Granada. For further course information visit our website.

Hiking tours to the Cahorros Gorge in Monachil!
This week we have started with our first complementary activities. Our teacher Paco has guided his group to the Cahorros Gorge in Monachil.
During the hiking activities our students have the opportunity to practice their Spanish with the teacher and to enjoy the phantastic landscapes around Granada.
The gorge of the Río Monachil is one of the most beautiful, popular and easiest hiking routes in the whole province of Granada. The gorge itself is known as Los Cahorros. It is very popular with climbers and day-trippers alike, due to its proximity to the city of Granada.
Los Cahorros is a mid-mountain limestone area, made up of formations that are younger than the higher peaks and are subject to more erosion. Due to the scarcity of soil, human intervention and the altitude here, a number of shrubs, such as willows, poplars, rushes and esparto fields, thrive alongside the riverbed in the V-shaped valley of the Río Monachil. This unique vegetation in turn gives rise to the rich wildlife, such as birds, amphibians and mammals, such as the wild boar and Spanish ibex.

In Spain, Granada preserves treasures from the past. But trendy hotspots and a new ecopark have this city looking to the future.
Returning to the Alhambra is like rereading a book. The hilltop citadel built by the Nasrid sultans above Granada, in Spain's autonomous Andalusia region, was a masterpiece of medieval engineering, but also of literature—poetry and philosophy expressed in dream-like architecture. Verses, blessings, and ruminations were etched into its facades so the structure would seem to speak.

¡Os desamos a todos unas felices fiestas y un próspero año nuevo!

The competition, which will consist of a vertical race and another with a classic route, is held on February 4 and 5, 2022.
Sierra Nevada will host the first Snow Running World Championship on February 4 and 5, 2022 with the participation of the best runners of this emerging discipline of mountain races.
The first snow running world championship will consist of two races; the first, called SkySnow Running Vertical, will be held at dawn on February 4 with a route of 4.3 kilometers with 950 meters of vertical ascent to 3.050 meters of altitude. The second, SkySnow Running Classic, will be held at nightfall on February 5 on a line of 12.7 kilometers and a vertical climb of 925 meters.
The designation of Sierra Nevada came after the Spanish Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing presented the candidacy of Granada ski station - where official races of this discipline have been held since 2012. The landscape characteristics of the route, which runs through the ski area, have made it the largest snow running event in Europe for several years.

This festival was one of my favorite moments of the whole year ... surely one of the worlds leading festivals". Anthony Strong
Granada is the privileged environment where concerts of one of the longest-running, awarded and respected jazz festivals in Europe take place: the Granada International Jazz Festival. Since that first edition in 1980, the Granada International Jazz Festival has been welcoming the excellence of jazz history for forty years, uninterrupted: Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Charlie Haden, Art Blakey, Tete Montoliu, Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Abbey Lincoln, Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Bebo y Chucho Valdés, Ron Carter, Eliane Elias, Robert Glasper, among an endless list of musicians.
Fans, who travel from many parts of Spain and Europe come to this event, to enjoy extraordinary concerts in the beautiful and emblematic Theater Isabel la Católica and throughout the city with Jazz in parallel with more than 80 concerts and activities, generating an exciting jazz atmosphere. The Granada International Jazz Festival, in autumn, is a must.
"Although I have only performed at the Granada Jazz Festival once, the memory of the experience has haunted me for over a decade. Between the creative, welcoming direction of the festival, and the intense flavors of mystery and history that permeate this city, I have always longed to return ". Charles Lloyd
