Granada celebrates the festival of San Cecilio, patron saint of the city, on the 06 of February.
This day there is a pilgrimage to Sacromonte and a mass in his honor.
The famous Pilgrimage of San Cecilio to the Abbey of Sacromonte begins at 11.00 in the morning, when a municipal delegation, escorted by the four maceros of the city, set off along the Camino Viejo del Fargue towards the Abbey. Subsequently, the members of the municipal corporation go inside the Abbey, where the celebration of a mass officiated by the Archbishop of Granada takes place.
As in any pilgrimage there is a part of popular festive acts such as local and regional dances and music at the foot of the Sacromonte Abbey. Where a stage and a bar are set up to serve all the pilgrims, tourists and neighbors who want to celebrate the party.
Many groups, preferably young people and families, spread out over the mountain and make their country meal with wine from the region, jayuya cakes, salaíllas, cod, broad beans, Sacromonte tortilla and other local products.
This pilgrimage has been celebrated since 1599, the year in which a plague devastated Granada and from which, according to tradition, it came out by invoking the saint. In the past, many people from Granada went up and made a pilgrimage to the caves to venerate the relics before an institutional pilgrimage was made official.

The famous Yoga Estudio has reopened on the 10.01.2022.
We are pleased to inform you that Yoga Estudio has reopend its doors on January 10, 2022. The studio will be managed by Esther Baubo and the wonderful team of people who make up Baubo Yoga.
For Esther Baubo it is a great challenge to take the reins of this emblematic place as well as to somehow "take the witness" of the incredible legacy that Eladia Martinez left. The team will work with great enthusiasm.
It is important to note that Baubo Yoga is not an exclusive center for Iyengar Yoga.
They offer traditional Hatha Yoga classes and also are going to offer a variety of styles and contemporary fusions so that students can choose the one that best suits their demands and particularities.
Also in 2022 our school will continue offering Spanish and Yoga workshops in collaboration with different yoga estudios in Granada. For further course information visit our website.

This festival was one of my favorite moments of the whole year ... surely one of the worlds leading festivals". Anthony Strong

September comes alive with colour in honour of the Virgen de las Angustias.
September brings summer to a close in Granada and the city pays tribute to its patroness, the Virgen de las Angustias. There are two important dates: 15 September and the last Sunday of the month.
This is probably one of the most picturesque and enchanting times to visit Granada. The stalls laden with fruit set up in the city centre, the red and gold leaves of the trees lining the Carrera de la Virgen boulevard, and the warm September afternoons create a delightful ambience that charms the citizens of Granada as much as the visitors.
You'll also discover a gastronomic delight, the unforgettably sweet cakes known as tortas de la Virgen.

We highly recommend the open air film sessions at the Sacromonte!
This Ethnographic Museum helps you to understand the history, culture and nature of such a unique neighborhood in Granada.
The Sacromonte Caves Museum is located in the Barranco de los Negros, in the Sacromonte district, and it offers stunning views of the Alhambra and the Darro Valley (Valparaiso). It is very close to the historic Albaicín district.
In this museum ten caves have been recreated as they were 100 years ago, so visitors can learn about the living conditions and trades of its inhabitants. A part of the museum is dedicated to nature, offering information about flora, fauna, climate, landscape and agriculture of the area.
There are many cultural activities and events taking place here during the year: guided tours , walking tours in the area, flamenco live shows and the open air summer cinema.

The performance will take place during the summer from July 20 to August 21.
The Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions in collaboration with the Alhambra organizes, from July 20 to August 21, 2021, the twentieth edition of the Lorca and Granada programme in the Generalife Gardens.
We already have enjoyed twenty editions since its inception, in 2002, with the staging of Blood Wedding directed by Antonio Gades. It has been two decades in which the Ministry of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Junta de Andalucía has punctually fulfilled, every summer, with its commitment to offer Grenadians and visitors a first-rate artistic and technical appointment around the figure and work of Federico García Lorca.
In 2021, the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet returns to the Teatro del Generalife with THE HEX OF THE BUTTERFLY, a performance about women and dances in the times of Federico García Lorca. The show, directed by Úrsula Lopez, will have the special collaboration of Manuel Lombo at its premiere and every Thursday and Friday.

This year Granada is celebrating the traditional DÍA DE LA CRUZ on the balconies!
The Día de la Cruz (day of the crosses) or cruces de mayo (festival of the May crosses) is celebrated in Granada on May 3rd and is one of the most popular festivals in Andalusia.
On this joyous day it is common to find all over Granada women and children wearing the typical Andalusian dresses.
Also beautiful Andalusian horses will parade in the streets. Every year the city council runs a competition to promote this tradition, in which there are four categories: patios (courtyards), streets and squares, shop windows and schools. Thousands of carnations will decorate the dozens of crosses that compete for the prize every year. The aroma of so many flowers perfumes Granada and invites people to enjoy such a special day.
This year and due to the pandemic situation, many crosses will be installed on the balconies to avoid crowds. The Albaicin and Realejo are good areas to see the crosses, as well as the historic city centre.

This year the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance will celebrate its 70th birthday!
The Granada International Music and Dance Festival is held in different venues and stages, at iconic locations in and around the city. The festival originated in the symphony concerts staged in Charles V's Palace from 1883, and the Cante Jondo competition held in Plaza de los Aljibes in the Alhambra in 1922, attended by leading artistic and intellectual figures of the time, including Federico García Lorca, Manuel de Falla, Ramón Gómez de la Serna, and Santiago Rusiñol.
The programme includes several different musical genres, each on a different stage: concerts by large symphony orchestras in the Palace of Charles V; dance and ballet in the outdoor theatre in the Generalife gardens; recitals, in the Patio de los Arrayanes, in the Alhambra; morning concerts in Granada's churches and historic buildings, and flamenco and world music in the traditional neighbourhoods of Albaicín and Sacromonte, attracting over 30,000 people every year.
