Do you want to combine your Spanish course in Granada with hiking tours? Midway between Cordoba and Granada, in the heart of Andalucia, the tiny white village of Zuheros sits high on the northern flank of the Sierra Subbetica – a beautiful range of hills and a National Park.
The area is a dramatic limestone massif, weathered over millennia into a series of valleys and peaks, making it fantastic walking country. River valleys, tumbling cascades, fabulous views over olive groves, mountain sierras and hillsides sprinkled with red peonies and orchids form the backdrop to the walks.
We recommend the following walk:
A path climbs gently above Zuheros before descending through almond groves to the
Rio Bailon. Then, with golden eagles soaring above, you reach Cerro de Bramadero hilltop where you can relax under cork oaks enjoying wonderful valley views. You return past walnut trees and ancient wells on the way to the verdant river gorge that leads back into Zuheros.

On a clear day, the peak of Veleta offers 360° views of the surrounding mountains of the Sierra Nevada, the city of Granada, the Mediterranean and even Africa.
In summer the ascent is remarkably straightforward for being such a high mountain, and the fresh mountain air at the summit is a welcome relief from the heat at lower altitudes.
The route starts at Hoya de la Mora and is easy to follow and the terrain is undemanding, although if you prefer you can take slightly more challenging short-cut paths.

A hike up to the Maroma Peak: Combine a Spanish course in Granada with hiking in the surroundings. From the top of the Maroma you can enjoy the beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea.
For those of you who enjoy hiking,
La Maroma measures 2018 meters. It is obviously not the Sierra Nevada, but to hike up to it´s peak will definately be a challenge. You will not have excessive difficulty, but you will have to walk up as well as climb up certain areas, but you do not have to be an expert to do this.
The
Tejeda Sierra is joined to those of Almijara and Alhama which form a natural border between the provinces of Malaga and Granada. We are amongst a natural environment where you can nejoy nature, it´s views and flora and fauna.

Combine a Spanish course in Granada with hiking in the surroundings. If you need tips, have a look at Paco's Facebook.
From the top of the
Trevenque you can enjoy the beautiful views of Los Alayos and the Veleta. The Trevenque is a sharp mountain with steep sides, belonging to the limestoned Sierra Nevada. Here, half a hundred strange plants live; some of them can only be found round the peak of the mountains. For that reason, this area has great ecologic value.

Combine a Spanish course in Granada with a hiking weekend near Cortes de la Frontera (Ronda).
Visitors to Andalusia's
enchanting mountain villages usually come to relax and enjoy a peaceful time away from the pressures of modern life. Numerous tracks wind away from through mountains, cork forests and farmland where you can enjoy spectacular scenery undisturbed by traffic and everyday noise. The countryside of
Cortes de la Frontera is part of the
Grazalema Natural Park and is a paradise for botanists and ornithologists.
Walking at all levels is available through the mountains, using trails and tracks that have been in existence in some cases for hundreds of years, where you really capture the feeling that you have stepped back in time. Nature has been seemingly left to its own devices, and the area is a treasure trove for those interested in flora and fauna, set against an azure sky with Griffon Vultures soaring, the warm air rising from the steep mountain slopes - a photographer's dream.
OUR HOT TIP:
Walking Tour: Cortes de la Frontera - Valle de Libar - Montejaque (approx. 5 hrs)

Sierra Nevada which is called as the ultimate skiing range for
adventure lovers also provides a number of other adventure sports which
one can enjoy to the hilt. One of them is hiking and trekking along the
steepest and dangerous mountain range of Andalusia: the Alpujarra Mountains.
Trevélez village in the Alpujarra Mountains (Sierra Nevada National Park) has been declared as the highest point of its location of being 1500m above sea level. In fact, it is being touted as the ideal place to start hiking along the mountainous treks.
Another point in favor of Trevélez is the close proximity of Mulhacen which is considered as the highest mountain range in Peninsula, el Chorrillo, the Tagus Pañabon and Window Rock.
Do you want to do phantastic trekking tours while attending a Spanish course with us? Then we recommend you to stay during a weekend in Trevélez to explore the wilderness of the Alpujarra Mountains.

Springtime in Andalusia has its own peculiar, ineffable feeling.
The air is filled with the finest flower pollen which is wafted almost
invisible on the translucent air. Towns and countryside reverberate the
marvellous clarity. One has only to open a window or step outside the
door to be conscious of this exhilarating luminosity that is floating
everywhere. There are flowers on all sides. It is definitly the best time to go trekking!
