Day trip to the Tropical Coast
Dring the trip we will visit the Castle of Almuñecar. Castillo de San Miguel, also known as San Miguel Castle (St. Michael's Castle) is perched high upon the hill above the Old Town of Almuñécar. It is surrounded by the whitewashed houses in the barrio of San Miguel. This occupies the land once used by Phoenicians and Romans. It was also used in the Nasrid period for the dungeon. While not a huge castle, it is in very good condition. Inside there is a small museum with a scale model of what the area once was. The castle structures are of the Muslim period, as became the retreat of the Moorish dynasty XIII. At the end of the reign of the Catholic King Ferdinand, 16th century, more was added (the moat, the drawbridge and the front entrance with its four round towers). During the war of independence against the French, it suffered the bombing of the British troops. The ruins later became used as a Christian cemetery, until mid S.XX. We have time to explore the castle and enjoy the amazing 360 views from the top. You will also enjoy the small museum area under ground, within the San Miguel Castle grounds.

The 21st edition of the program Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens' whose programme was presented this Thursday in Granada will premiere the show Jondo. From the first cry, from the first kiss is a homage to the poet Federico García Lorca and the flamenco tradirion. It commemorates the first centenary of the 1922 Cante Jondo Contest.
Under the choreographic direction of Eduardo Guerrero, direction by Sharon Fridman and dramaturgy by Triana Lorite, the show will be the protagonist from July 19 to August 27 of the cultural nights in the Generalife Gardens, becoming once again one of the essential events of the summer in Andalusia.

LA CASA DE BERNARDA ALBA
Federico Garcia Lorca and his theatre is an important part of our teacher training programme for non-native teachers of Spanish.
This week we have visitid the Bernarda Alba's house in Valderrubio village. The house where Francisca Alba Sierra lived with her family and where Frederico García Lorca drew inspiration for his famous tragedy Bernarda Alba's house, premiered in 1945 in Buenos Aires by the Margarita Xirgu company, is located on Calle Real (before Calle Ancha) in Valderrubio and the taboo of fiction and truth has weighed on it for many decades. The building was converted into a museum in December 2018.
Francisca Alba's house had a well shared with the house of Federico's aunt, Matilde García Rodríguez. From the well they could see and hear those on the other side. It was through this aunt that Federico and his family found out about what was happening at the Alba house. But not everything that appears in Federico's drama has the same source. The rigorous mourning comes from a relative named Paca Mazuecos, whose house, after the death of her daughter, was completely in mourning, dressed in rigorous black, with a headscarf, no flowers in the patio because they were colored, black curtains on the windows, on the skirt of the stretcher table ...
Apart from visiting the Lorca museum in Fuentevaqueros, a visit to the Valderrubio museum is worthwhile,
