Fiestas Corpus in Granada - from June 8th to 14th 2009
The Festival of Corpus Christi is the main fiesta of the city. Every year it starts on Monday at 12 midnight with the lighting, that is, with the turning on of thousands of light bulbs on the entrance gate of the showground. The Corpus Christi Thursday is the main day of the Festival. It was institutionally created by the catholic monarchs as main festival after the conquest of the city. The model of Seville was copied as it was the most sumptuous of Spain. A special place for it is set up in the outskirts of the city with “casetas” (or stalls) and funfair. continuer>>
